Team USA Selection Camp roster is officially announced. The camp will be held at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. and will be from Jan. 8 to Feb. 1. The full roster of boxers is listed below.
The eight boxers selected after the camp will travel to Italy in February to compete at the World Qualification Tournament with hopes of punching their ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Five boxers qualified for the Olympics in October at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. Those five boxers include Jennifer Lozano (Laredo, Texas), Jahmal Harvey (Oxon Hill, Md.), Jajaira Gonzalez (Glendora, Calif.), Morelle McCane (Cleveland, Ohio), and Joshua Edwards (Houston, Texas).
Seven of the eight 2023 Elite High Performance Team members who did not qualify through the 2023 Santiago Pan American Games will look to earn their place on Team USA again for 2024. They will be challenged for the place on the team by the champions in their weight categories from the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Boxing this past December.
The 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Boxing champions in weight categories already qualified for Paris will be evaluated to earn their place as the alternate in each qualified weight.
Head Coach, Billy Walsh (Colorado Springs, Colo.), will be the main man in charge of the Selection Camp. Walsh will be assisted throughout the camp by his team including National Resident Coach, Timothy Nolan (Rochester, N.Y.), National Development Coach, Chad Wigle (Colorado Springs, Colo.), along with Assistant Coaches Adonis Frazier (Minneapolis, Minn.), Danilo Garcia (Oakland, CA), Debra Lagares(Rochester, N.Y.), Christine Lopez (Rowlett, Texas), Tyler Trask (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Candice Vascocu (Bullard, Texas).
